S4 cooling
I'm just about to start some tests to establish the best way of getting
my charge temperature down. When pushing the car hard, particularly at
higher revs, the ignition retardation is very evident and the power
suffers accordingly. I have just ordered a dual input thermocouple to
measure the temperatures both in and out of the intercooler and will
test the existing setup in various ambient conditions. I will then get
a watercooled charge cooler fitted and retest. If I have the time, I
will also try both water and (maybe) nitrogen total loss systems on the
existing
IC and compare results.
I posted a request to the q-list about aftermarket spoilers for the
S4/S6 and it appears that ABT are the only company to offer one at
£250UKP. I am awaiting a brochure to check the aesthetics before
ordering one. Again, I will measure the benefits of the improved airflow
with this fitted.
Are there any other useful temperature tests I could do while I'm doing
these that would be of interest to others? Would there be any benefit in
monitoring the airbox temp?
