RE: Antenna Woes

Not a solution but same subject:

My OEM electrical antenna was snapped off and I have replaced it with a
flexible Radio Shack antenna that I had sitting around. Since then, I
have been thinking about getting the roof mount antenna (15" amplified
antenna?) that's standard on VR6's and GTI's and mount in on my 4ks. I
am kind of hesitant about doing so because I imagine I would need to
drill hole(s) on the roof and route the cable from inside. The third
brake light is on the rear deck so I probably would need to remove the
ceiling liner in order to route the cable and that is something I rather
not do. I am afraid of tearing the liner if I tried. The installation
would probably be easier if the third brake light is mounted on the
ceiling where you have an access to the roof.

Has anyone mounted such antenna on a vehicle where the third brake light
is not on the ceiling and how easy/difficult is it? Much appreciative
of an insight.
