If I am not mistaken, here is how the engines changed on the 90Q;
1988, 1989; only 10V I5 offered
1990, 1991; 10V and 20V I5 offered
1992 no 90Q, only model available is 80Q with V6
1993-1995 90Q with V6
If I were to buy one, I would get a 90 or newer car (20V if possible).
The prices are far enough down that it would be worthwile to get one
with an airbag. Of course this is a personal opinion that I will
probably catch some flak for. My opinion is based on an 88 90Q that I
had. I have had much less trouble with newer Audis that I have owned.
Plus, I found the 10V 90Q to be a bit underpowered.
