Re: Euro 6-speed box in US S4/6?

To: quattro
Peter, and all,

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to expand your question. Not just S4/6,
which Audi's would the 6-speed fit into? Would it fit in my '92 100? Is the
6-speed a solid unit, or does it have any "gotcha's" waiting in the wings?
My tranny's fine (can't believe I just wrote that; knock on wood), and God
knows, my car's not seeing any real mileage right now, but just for future
information, anyone have any idea on the cost of a 6-speed transmission?
Did any of them make it to Canada, so we wouldn't have to scavenge from
Europe? Like I said, just wondering.

All this gear ratio talk has made me wonder (nothing more (for now) since I
don't have either model) if a European 6-speed manual might be fitted to a
US spec S4/6... I guess the question is not "if", but rather "how much?"
(you know: Q: "How fast can I make this?". A: "How much money do you
have?".)...
