porsche introduced new cams, inlet and exhaust manifolds, turbo, intercooler,
high flow injectors and fuel pump, low friction inlet and exhaust system,
improved cooling etc. etc.
the 6-speed was also beefed up to cope wiht the torque.
any or all of this you can do yourself. if you have the time and money....
