Replacing Center Section Of Sport Seats 5Ktq

I just can't take the seats in my '87 5Ktq anymore.  The fabric on the center
section  of my seats is just falling apart.  I was wondering if Audi offers
the covers as a stand alone item.  It looks like it would be pretty easy to
just slide a new cover over the seat bottoms if Audi offered them that way.  I
have talked with a few guys who do this sort of thing and they said that they
could find fabric that closely matches and make new covers for about $175.00
per seat.  If anyone (I can't imagine there is not) has gone through this,
could you give me some tips.
