Rob,

It sounds like your '91 200q behaves exactly like mine, which behaves
exactly like the Bentley says it should.  You really do have to load up
the engine to get to 1.8 bar on the guage.  The Bentley test is to floor
it on a slight upgrade in 3rd gear at about 1900 RPM and make sure it
hits 1.825 bar before you get to 3000 RPM.

After all, the engine needs some load to put the HP to.
