Occasionally I visit my local automotive electrics shop and buy sets
of brushes for my various Bosch or Motorola alternators. I think I pay
about 4.00 per brush set. Do the same same for starters, but if I pull
out a starter, I generally overhaul it; costs maybe another 20.00 in
parts.

I consider brushes a must keep in emergency kit.
