Central locking and alarm systems

Listers,
Interesting thing happened this morning.  When using the remote to unlock
the V8 found that the lock unlock sequence had been reversed in relation to
the alarm arming.  In other words, the alarm armed when I unlocked and
disarmed when I locked.  Has anyone had anything like this happen? 
Presently, I have to unlock, thus arming the alarm, get in without closing
the door (it lets me in but I cannot start the car; if I shut the door and
reopen it hte alsrm wakes my sleeping neighbors), then with the remote,
lock, or disarm the alarm so the car will start.  Any suggestions?
