Failed check valve remedy

I've been having troubles with my starting most likely due to a failed
check valve in the fuel pump. Because I'm clueless, I didn't realize until
two days ago that I can use my dash switch (the one that keeps my fp on at
over 1.65 bar) to prime the fuel system before starting. I rememeber my
old 5k's fp would prime before starting, but my turbo doesn't. Just might
be an option for some if they don't want to go diving through the tank.
p.s.- can any problems arise from this in turbos? I run it for about 5 to
10 seconds.
