Wheel offsets

OK everyone, check me out here. I've got a test set of 16 x 8 wheels, 35 MM
offset 245/45-16" tires, on the S4 right now. I'm looking to make sure that
245/40-17" inch wheels will fit. So far so good the rear looks a little
tight on the outer part of the wheel. The 35 MM offset brings the wheels out
nicely, pretty much flush with the wheel wells. Looks tough.

Here is my concern, since the factory spec is 40 MM (although the S6 has a
37 MM offset w/ 7.5" wide wheels), w/ 8" wide wheels what would be
detrimental about going with 35 MM offset wheels, still in a 8" width
however? I'm assuming that, if anything, going with the 35 MM offset will
bring the wheel further outwards and give me even more clearance for the big
brakes (911 tt) I plan on running up front. Any thoughts?

BTW, the car is severely lowered with a Sachs sporting kit and the
245/45-16"s have yet to rub on full lock. The rears are still questionable,
as mentioned. I need to get 5 people in the car with a full load in the
trunk to truly see.

                        Thanks,
                        Frank--
