I've had cheap ones before, they suck. Most have about a one mile range, the Escort products I've had have been pretty good until they started making
the big plastic ones like they do now. I swear the Laser part never worked & the damn thing was always misfunctioning (beeping strange sounds not
listed in the manual) and sucked batteries fast in the cordless units. The only thing I haven't tried yet is the Valentine One. $400 is too scary of a
risk, though I've never heard a bad word about them. Still, $400?
