Bumpers

I saw three 80's today.  Quite an event (for me anyway).  The odd thing
about them was that all of them had body colored bumpers.  I know they
were 80's because I checked the badging on the back.  Two had bumpers
similar to the ones of on a 200.  The other was like mine (except for
the color).  Also, none of the cars were Q's.  So, what's with this?
Were body colored bumpers an option?  Are these cars from a different
year (mine's an '89 80q)?  Will the 200 look-a-like bumpers bolt on to
my car?  I'm really starting hat the color of ten year old unpainted
plastic.
