RE:Setting DC
A quick question - from what I've read on the list if you connect the
dwell meter to the DC readout plug (brown wire negative) you are
measuring the negative DC. However, if I remove the disptick with dwell
meter connected I can see the DC increase, which makes me believe I'm
reading true DC. Am I missing something here?
Alexander,
Here is how you can tell. A couple of terms defined: If we define
correct DC as rich is high (>50%) and lean is low (<50%). Also when the
OXS Sensor indicates a lean condition the DC or Lambda circuit goes rich
and vise versa. So a lean mixture should give a rich DC (>50%) - the
Lambda circuit is always trying to keep the OXS sensor at 0.5V for ideal
mixture.
When you pull the dip stick you introduce air which leans out the
mixture and the DC then should go rich or increase. Therefore I believe
you are reading correct DC.
One other way to check this is to read DC when the car is started cold
and you should read ~80% DC (cold enrichment) until the OXS sensor heats
up and the Lambda circuit goes closed loop at which time the DC should
drop back to the 45-50% idle set point.
Hope this helps.
