On street tires, my lightly-modded '89 200q (presumably *very* similar to
Scott's, especially as I have one of his chips in it ... highly recommended,
btw) launches best around 4500rpm; on soft-compound race tires, I find that
5500rpm is where it's at.  Ditto for my Ur-Q, although I usually balance the
clutch against the brakes at 5500rpm ... can't do it for long, of course,
but the car positively *leaps* off the line!  Of course, this may be why the
clutch in my Ur-Q needs to be replaced at only 82k and the one in my 200q is
starting to slip a bit ... perhaps another 10k and I'll have to replace that
one, too.  :^(
