I've calibrated the range display using the technique described in the 
microfiche.  So I know within 0.2l how full the tank is.  On the orange digital 
display, you can actually get it to display the tank level in decilitres.

I sometimes run it pretty close to vapour, and then fill up in the BP station 
in the centre of Kettering.  I've had people arrive after I've started filling 
up who've completed the entire procedure and driven away while I'm _still_ 
pumping gas.

The ur-quattro's tank is just awesome.  Why on earth ...

But then - he knew about the understeer.
