them. You were correct, there are 2 relays, one labelled "cooling fan" and
the
other "high speed cooling fan." When I removed the relay labelled "cooling
fan," the fans continued to run at high speed. When I removed the relay
labelled "high speed cooling fan," the fans continued to run, but at the low
speed. When both relays were removed, the fans did not run. Does this sound
like a faulty relay? Or should I turn my attention to the coolant fan thermal
switch on the radiator? Thanks.

well I think the relays are working fine........I think the radiator fan
thermoswitch is the culprit.......usuay he will consider (92-97 degrees
centigrade) 1st speed and (99-105 degrees centigrade) for the second
speed.........keep in mind that there might be more than 1 of those
thermoswitches.......the one in the radiator and the one at the rear of the
block......which should be checked.........
(on my 5 cylinder 90 there are two.......) I am not sure on yours ...but check
for both ... maybe another lister can chime in on your exact model...........I
think the thermoswitches are the culprits not the relays.......
let me know how it goes....
