Well, it could be worse...it could be a guy in a Range Rover with 100/130
watt H4s at eye level...
Oh, right. I do that. :)
I've become convinced of the value of DRLs...so much so that I converted
the city lights on my wife's 200T to full time use (with ignition switch),
and put 22 cp bulbs in, replacing the wimpy ones. They look a lot like fog
lights when they're on, and at night some people think that they're high
beams just cos the see 4 lamps on. One of these days I may set up a relay
to turn them off when the main lamps are on.
Why do I run with lights on in the daytime? Same reason I wear my seatbelt.
It gives me a greater margin of safety...if someone pulling out from a
sidestreet glances in my direction, they're more likely to see me if my
lights are on. I've seen too many people start to pull out and then stop
when they see me to be convinced otherwise.
I don't run fogs in the day because 1 it *does* look silly :) and 2 they're
too low for good visibility. One of the best reasons for running headlights
in the daytime is that it clears Left Lane Bandits (LLBs) more quickly. If
I come up behind a LLB, they see my lights in their RV mirror and move
over...fogs are too low to do this.
And there are too many *idiots* on the road *not* to take advantage of
every increment of active and passive safety...
