... even the pumps that aren't mounted in tanks make use of the fuel as
a coolant.  In my Fox I would often let the tank run near empty ... and
when in a hard left turn the gas will slosh away from the pickup.  One
day I was low on gas and took a left turn quickly ... the pump died in
the middle of the turn.  Fortunately I have enough momentum to roll into
the parking lot and work and park the car.  I got to replace the pump at
lunch out in the parking lot.  Needless to say I don't let the tank get
that empty any more!
