Would you say that this is merely a "feel" issue, or is the car actually
harder to control (e.g. won't track straight, needs corrections as you
crest hills, etc.) ?

I once found my RF tie rod end adjusters with the locking nuts loose, so
there was quite a bit of free play. Not only did the steering feel odd,
but the car wouldn't track right, either.

The steering is light in these cars, but I've found it's still quite
communicative. They have variable power assist, though it's not
Servotronic;
rather, it's the more traditional RPM-sensitive type...
