BEWARE...FS: 91 200 TQW
A couple of months ago I had a customer come in with her 91 200tqw
interested in purchasing another Audi wagon. We drove the A6 wagon, but it
didn't have enough power for her and she wouldn't consider a used S6 Wagon.
So off she went and bought a Volvo.
Anyway, I got in touch with one Lister who was interested in her wagon but
he opted away because of her high asking price. I warned him about some
tranny noise that she didn't even know about and he spoke with the owner
personally but they couldn't agree.
To make a long story short, the Volvo dealer sold the vehicle to another
local dealership who had the pleasure of discovering that the Tranny was
shot. I finally got a chance to have a discussion with a local enthusiast
(who owns yet a third shop), and who examined the car. He claims that the
Center Diff is shot to the point where the driveshaft doesn't move at all
under power.
SO.. for those people who are searching for a 200tqw, if you come across a
midnight blue 20v wagon with around 80K on the clock from the North East..
make sure it is not this car. The car has not had the UFO conversion done
and is bone stock. If you find yourself looking at a Blue one that fits
this discription and aren't sure if this is the same car... feel free to
contact me. I can look up the VIN number at work by crossreferencing it to
original owner's name.
My friend started looking for a used 200tqw tranny and the prices he is
getting is around $2500!!!
BTW, I didn't post this car to the list because I knew the Tranny had a
problem and I didn't want to be held responsible for it. Now I'm very glad
I didn't. I've done my duty to the list...
