Silly technical question

Hi List!

It's not directly Audi-related question, but I guess it applies to all
cars.
How much important it is to lubricate the camshaft seal before
installing? I'm in the process of replacing the head gasket on the
Renault. Soon after reassembling the engine I realized that I forgot to
lubricate the said seal... would hate to disassemble everyting again to
get to the seal.

PS. If you ever thought Audis are difficult to wrench on, try to
disassemble a Renault :-(
