RE: UK, now have I got this straight?
Ooops ... not quite.
There never was a 2000 that I know of in the USA. The Audi 80/90 has
been called Fox or 4000 (4k) depending on model year (Fox ~'73-'79, 4k
'80-'87), while the 100/200 is called the 5000 (5k) in the states.
Usually the difference between the 100 and 200 is that the non-turbo
models (100) are called the 5000S, while the turbos (200) are called
5000CS ...
There were also Audi Coupe, or Coupe GT models sold in the US (I'm a bit
fuzzy on years, but I think it is '81-'87), and the QTC or urq (Quattro
Turbo Coupe) sold from '82-'85. Another Coupe Quattro model was sold
here in '90-'91 ...
Prior to the Fox and the 5000 I think the designators were consistent,
and eventually Audi went to the 80/90/100/200 designations here as well
...
... a wagon may also be referred to as an "Avant" ...
HTH!
