Magazine ratings

The last weeek or so ther has been a lot of concern over what C&D, JD Power
and a few other mags are saying about the Audis. Here in the states the
mags may make ok reading but quite often what they down rate a car for is
something that I think enhances the vehicle. 
Unfortunatly too many people buy what someone tells them they need or want
rather than discovering for themselves what they want. An example of this
is the SUV crase and the lack of manual transmissions in A6s and A8s. To
really make my point how could anyone respect the opinion of a mag that
could claim the Renault Alliance as "Vehicle of the Year"?
