Your original statement I was not in favour of was that "Weight is not the issue".
I was not refering to real cars where other criteria come into play. 
You later mentioned two cars that are totaly different sports cars 
i.e one very heavy with lot's of power and other light with less 
power.  That does not prove that heavier is better or that lighter is 
better.   There are too many variables to say which car is faster becouse 
it's lighter or heavier.
My point was, with everything the same i.e. tires, suspension, weight 
distribution, driver etc (essentialy same car with some weights added 
to keep the weight distribution and center of gravity the same).  
Weight is an issue.  Don't you think?
