By making it work too hard.  In common with many other makes, Audi's
pistons are oval when cold.  Thrash it when it's cold, and the bottom of
the bore goes oval, allowing oil past the oil control rings.

The microfiche, BTW, states very definitely than the bores must be
measured with the engine 'relaxed' - i.e., not bolted up to a
turntable.
