V8Q tranny

Hello all,  I've had my V8 about a year now and think it's wise to change
the tranny filter and fluid.  I heard that the exhaust pipes had to be
partially moved to get the pan off?  The filter and gasket appear to be
dealer only items and what fluid should I put in?  no problems shifting
but I do not want to run into trouble.
