To start a different (albeit related) thread to the BMW vs. Audi
arguement, I was wondering...

Why are the Audi brakes poor, relative to the competition?

I imagine the rotors are probably of equivalent sizes between equivalent
models, no?  Are calipers the key factor?  Brake master cylinder?  
The vacuum assist mechanism?
