Well, as you imply, most of it is trivia.  That particular washer is
_NOT_, and if you look at what it's supposed to be doing you can see
that a self-tapping screw is not going to support that load in plastic
without a pretty big washer.

The wheel bolts were a _much_ greater concern.  300+ lb ft on alloy
wheels is just irresponsible and dangerous.

I guess I've been spoilt by BR Motorsport, AM Cars and the rest.  In
those places, the mechanics have at least a fair grounding in
engineering.
