RE: Alternator output: 87 4kcsq, and a bunch of suggestion for higher electric demand

Mark,
Your best bet (my suggestion) is to find out what is your VOLTAGE, (never
mind the amperage), with a volt meter check and see how low is your charging
voltage. If it is above battery voltage 12.6+ you are OK, but best is 13+,
check during idle and your "normal" running RPM.
If the above is OK and you don't need a "million" amps to start (living in a
very cold climate), don't worry about it........

If it's not OK (per above), you have some other options:

1. Bigger Alt. the costliest answer, can be difficult as in cost, alternator
ava. fittment etc.

2. Voltage regulator, one that is 14.2 or so, don't know if it is ava. for a
4K and also is a "murder" on bulbs, bulbs (12 volt) do not like to run on
too high a voltage,

3. Bigger Batt. will give you more reserve (good idea),

4. Bigger pulley on your Alt. will increase the speed on your Alt. very
effective in idle, somewhat effective in mid range, good idea, Audi also
uses it.

good luck and if you have more questions, let me know,
Avi
