I have a spare "standard ECU" ...

Anyway - pull the thing out, bend up the tabs, unscrew the screws
holding the upper circuit board. The stock chip is soldered directly
to the board - an aftermarket chip usually sits in a socket. There
is also an identifying sticker on the chip.

I've not yet seen a "chipped" MB. Would be interesting. What would be
even _MORE_ interesting, if your car has been chipped, would be to
swap in my spare ECU and send the chip from yours over to this nice
man in Colorado. Fancy a trip to Durham next Sunday night?
