Trans failure? Need help!!
I had a problem with my slushbox last night. This is the problem (no, I
didn't blow it with all the boost I'm running): No reverse. I have all
forward ranges (shifts better than it's ever had before), but neutral is a
slipping drive range, reverse is drive and reverse, so it doesn't go
anywhere, park is drive, but locked; the car doesn't move. I have to start
with my foot on the brake to avoid accidents . It won't move, but still. I
don't know if the problem is due to the Militec I used (and had problems
with). I figure from my (above average) knowledge of a/t's that a forward
band solenoid isn't releasing for whatever reason. Possibly a clogged
return. Not five minutes before, I drove the car from the library to my
house (not two minutes away) with no trouble. Side symptoms: When starting
on a cold morning, the trans doesn't shift out of first gear. It takes
some finagling with the shifter to get it to shift. Once mildly warm, no
trouble. I put a cleaner in last night hoping that helps, but nothing. I
was thinking that the next step is to change the fluid, but I think I'll
go straight to my last step which is to remove and clean the valve body.
Any btdt's? I can't afford another trans rebuilt or used. I do know that
the trans is good; rebuilt a year before I got the car and reverse is
engaging, just drive is not disengaging. Please help! TIA!!
