2 Bay Area Coupe Q sightings in two days
Jeff and I went to see a friend of mine's '91 coupe Sunday. He has it
posted for sale at $13.5k. It should be cleaner for that price, but it
does show only 71k miles. Jeff drove it and I rode along. Passenger side
was cramped for me, but the seller was sitting behind me, so I couldn't
put the seat back all the way. Seemed like a fun car, but could use a
turbo.
Monday I was walking out of the Campbell Fry's ( you know, the food
store that grew into a computer store) and I saw the pearl white Coupe I
had just ridden in the day before. That's odd, "what's it doing all the
way up here in San Jose?" It wasn't the same car though. This one had
the center caps of the pristine Speedlines removed and was very clean
all over. As I was just finished admiring it a woman walked up and got
in. I told her I liked her car and that a friend of mine also had a'91
pw coupe q and that I had a pw '91 200 tq. She told me that she likes to
take her car up in the snow. I commented how nice it was to have a ski
sock in the 200 and she said "Oh, I just go to drive in the snow" or
something similar to that. She also said she like to drive near Bonny
Doon in the mud. I'd say she just plain likes to drive that thing. She
introduced herself as Kira and I told her about the list. As she drove
away I heard the hint of a modified exhaust. Her car must sound pretty
good with the throttle wide open.
