My wife already told me I should get some professional help
but I don't think she was talking about the transaxle.

That's what teenage kids are for.  I helped my son put
the transaxle back in his Fox, now he can return the favor.

Here's a tip I picked up on one of the British car lists:
When you are ready to join the transaxle to the engine, get
several bolts that are a few inches longer than the regular
ones, saw the heads off, screw them loosely into the block and
use them to align the bell housing with the block.
