my 85 4kq, lots of highway miles but driven hard always, went through
three consecutive sets of pirellis (p6, p600, p600) that lasted 60k
miles each.  tires rotated every 20k miles.  1 alignment after
suspension lowering/rebuild at 100k.  rarely saw more than 1/16 inch
deviation in tread depth measured anywhere.
