The credit union I use (Bay Federal Credit Union in Capitola CA--Santa Cruz
area) uses Kelly Blue Book. They will loan up to 80% or *retail* (!) book
price and do so at around 9% for a car of any age that is in KBB. This has
gotten me 100% loans (including T & L) on two cars in the past 4 years,
including my 87 5kcstq. If the CU uses KBB, and one shops for used quattro
(required Audi content), since they seldom sell for "retail KBB" price a good
loan can be had for one of these cars. I know...better to just pay cash, but
for some of us that is not possible.
