audi and f1

continuing rumours are being reported about an imminent announcement of audi's
plans to provide engines to a f1 team.

points:

1) bar (british american racing - ex bat aka craig pollock et al.) is to
announce it's engine supplier within the next week. pollock says that the
announcement will be "a surprise" it has been confirmed (apparently) that
meccachrome will not supply bar.

2) ford have announced that they will stick with stewart and not supply a 2nd
team. it had been expected that they will team with benneton whose ex renault
engines will not be supplied next year.

3) honda will return with a fully-funded f1 effort including chassis. exit
mugen engines for jordan.

4) bmw will supply william's engines in 2000, mercedes is supplying mclaren.

5) vw *will* race (ad sell) the gt1 car at le mans (next year), and have
supplied all their works drivers to mclaren for *this* years race (to gain
experience).

6) vw has bid for cosworth from it's parent company, vickers.

factor all this together, and who knows what is going to happen.
