The decision process for me is something like this:
"Hmm. Spend $400/month(at least) on 11 year old, falling apart car. Hmm.
Spend $320/month on 1991 200; better engine, better sound, better looks,
has q, and ...comfy, heated seats... Hmm." Of course, there was also the
little voice pointing out the monthly payment for a lease on an brand
spankin' new a4q(albeit, less fun factor than a 200.)
Current repair list looks something like this:
- -Window motor($100)
- -Sunroof$(?)
- -Clutch MC and new clutch($1000?)
- -Needs Bomb($700)
- -1 rear caliper, 1 front caliper that are freezing and warping my
rotors(one or the other, never at the same time, joy.)($300?)
- -afformentioned rotors($150?)
Total? $2.2k. More than 2/3 the value of the car.

GEE......was in the same position, about a month ago, found a '89 200TQ for
$5800, coupla dents, (prob where I would end up with one or two anyway...)
$200/month, lotsa fun, and new set of little probs compared with my '85
5kt....btw, anyone need a 85 5kt (new auto trans.struts, bearings,
axle...bentleys)
