5ktq Oil Cooler Lines
Well the oil change planned for Saturday was brought forward 24 hours.... Left work for lunch and had just reached the highway when the oil light and buzzer came on (good to know it works!). Immediately pulled over and had a look underneath, sure enough big puddle of oil and one of the lines joining onto the oil cooler had blown. Actually couldn't have timed it better, walked back to work and enlisted some help.
Within the hour I had reattached the hose with an additional small section of hose and two hose clamps, hopefully enough to get me back home. Looks like a great excuse to put the '85 ur-q on the road until I can get a permanent fix :)
A couple of questions.
1) I know Alex and others have looked into manufacturing replacement hoses, any timely updates?
2) Any recommendations on how to remove the end of the line from the cooler? I believe they are a real PITA to separate without trashing the cooler.
3) Lastly any recommendations (BTDTs) on replacing the whole setup with an aftermarket setup?
Thanks and regards, Mike
