Re: Buying 86-up turbo questions

> 1. How do I tell if the turbo afterrun coolant pump is shot?

Bridge (short) together the two terminals leading
from the temperature sensor to the relay which
activates the pump. That will tell you whether
the pump works or not (you'll hear the pump run
if so). Determining whether the temperature sensor
works or not is another procedure (Bentley should
have that one).

ABS OFF light is usually lit when ABS is not working.
Best test is to find some water and lock up the
brakes.

> 3 . clutch is bad?

Car moves when clutch released = clutch is good.
Car does not move when clutch released = clutch is bad.

> 4. How do I tell if the transmission is no good?

Car goes, people do not hear it a block away = good.
Car goes, people hear grinding a block away = bad.

No low end torque available in an MC. Rev engine up
to 4500-5000 / release clutch / smoke tires.

Oh, and w/r/t/ your query about why is there a switch
to turn off the ABS: expert drivers sometimes find
thay do better under certain road conditions with
it off. But even an expert driver sometimes has the
wife and kids in the car, and the ABS might save you
when you're a bit distracted (only so much that you
aren't at that moment driving like a Mikkola/Buffam/
Mouton).

hoping I was helpful even though terse,
