I very recently had the head gaskets on my '92 100csqw replaced under
extended warranty.  The total bill (if I recall correctly) was about $2K.  I
don't have the bill here with me, so I do not remember exactly.  Audi gave
us no assistance, even just to pay the $100 deductible from my extended
warranty.  The work was done at HBL Audi/Porsche/M-B, and the labor rate was
something unreal like $86/hr.  Maybe your local shop could do better.  After
