Re: urq in autotrader
I went to see this with Dan Hussey. The paint is nice, but there is
lot's of evidence of body work. The impression I got was of a well used
northern vehicle that has been cleaned up as much as possible without a
full restoration. I did not drive it, but Dan did and seemed to think it
drove well, I believe. The owner/seller is from MA and not the most
personable guy, which added to my lack of confidence in the history of
the car, which he was very vague about.
I would not reccomend this one, unless you 1) will be in Hilton Head
anyway or want to go. 2) can take a pocket full of no more than 30 100's
to tempt him with, 3) assuming it is in fact sound mechanically, you
don't mind a rough body and really want a ur-q to _drive_. As for the
condition of the body, let me put it another way: I have only really
looked at about 2 other ur-q's and I could detect definite differences in
the curvature of the rear fender flares from one side to the other. Not
to mention dings and dents to the under carriage, etc. Oh and the grill
is painted _white_. He says he has another one which is black.
Whatever.
This has been for sale since early last year or longer. The price
started out at around $8500 I believe.
