Re: S6 Purchase

Not much to go wrong with the S6 except for the usual Audi "maintainance"
stuff. It's an expensive car, so be very careful. The only thing I've
really heard about is the transmission, but someone that has an S6 will be
able to tell you better than I can.

The S6 was discontinued mainly because of OBD 1,2,3. The S6 was a low
volume car (for the US, at least) and the cost of redesign of engine and
management equipment to conform to obd standards was not justified to keep
the car on the market here. The last s6 was the 95.5, sold into 96. 96
was when the OBD 2 standards came into full effect, so Audi made 96 models
and stamped them as 95.5's. I think it was a great call by Audi. Something
of a final hoorah for the 5 cylinder.
