Dead V8Q - an anomaly

Tested the battery last night with a dummy load - solid as a rock.

Did some sums. 410mA over eight hours is _NOT_ enough to flatten
the battery down to 5.7V, which is what it was this morning.

The central locking and some alarm functions were dead. I checked
the battery levels, and then hooked up the charger to the posts under
the bonnet.

Then I opened and closed all the doors using the key. A quite
spectacular effect resulted - the charge rate indicator on the battery
charger went _MAD_. Absolutely berserk. Turn the key - steady 4A
charge. Turn the key - madness. The needle flickers between zero and
6A (full scale).

Obviously, debugging with the doors open would not find the problem.
