Re: name plates -- dumb question
Great job Ti, you've got some memory for weird things... (much like mine).
Couple of remarks- while browsing through my newly-acquired 'Audi File', I
came across a picture of a Coupe GT marked 'Audi C' 'GT'. Nice one, I'd
never seen that before. Pre-production? Also, we had the engine size on the
righthand side on several late-80s cars: mine said 'Audi 80 oooo 1.8S'.
Some early B3 80s had an additional badge saying 'katalysator'
(cat-equipped) below the righthand taillight. It looked more like a VW-
than like an Audi badge in style and didn't match the rest of the badging.
Early 5-cylinders often had a square badge with coloured lettering with a
silver outline denoting the engine as a '5E' (injection, red letters), '5D'
(Diesel, green letters), '5S' (Carb, blue letters), or '5T' (turbo, silver
outline only, 'T' in italic type).
These badges were found on the grill and trunklid. I think they were
Europe-only.
