D40's

Dave,

I had D40M2's 225/60/15 on my V8 for about a year and a half.  Excellent grip
in the rain and dry,   Ok in the snow.  Slightly noisy.  Decent wear..  I think 
I put about 30-35k miles on them.

Now running BF Goodrich Touring T/A VR4 225/60/15.  I wanted a quiter tire
more than I wanted a good gripping tire.  I also wanted something better in 
the snow.  I live in New Hampshire :-)

I'd say if there is no Snow in your area the D40's are a good tire.
