Dave, I'm sorry this bothered you but I've spent so much time on this thread
already that I just didn't feel like taking the time to rewrite it ...
besides, yours wasn't the only private e-mail that I included!  ;^)

I must reluctantly admit that part of me has enjoyed this sword fight -- I
enjoy a good debate, as any of my ex-girlfriends will readily confirm! --
but another part of me has grown weary of it.  Very, very weary.  If you're
tired of reading all this stuff, then imagine how those of us _writing_ it
must feel!

I'm tempted once again to respond to Dave's post responding to my post, ad
infinitum, but really, what's the point?  While I'm sure that we'd quickly
get this sorted out within a few hours of face-to-face time, e-mail isn't
the most efficient form of communication around for this sort of discussion
and personally, I find the inability to use hand gestures (politely, of
course!) and lack of a napkin to draw upon a real impediment to getting my
point across.

Needless to say, I disagree with much of Dave's analysis of my analysis -- I
write this merely so the record will reflect my objection and will spare
everyone an actual point-by-point rebuttal! -- and since I doubt we will
ever be able to resolve our differences of opinion at this point via the
internet, this would appear as good a time as any to once again waive the
white flag, call for a truce and move onto other things.  I still have an
Ur-Q in need of a motor after all...

Thanks again to everyone for hearing us out (or is that putting up with us?)
and thanks to everyone who took the time to actually reflect upon what they
were reading, irrespective of its source and their pre-conceived notions
about the subject.  :^)
