Misadventers of a motorhome (involves mud, and a 5ksq)

OK, sittin' in front of the computer looking at (what else) audi stuff.  I get
hailed from downstairs:  "Eric, the motorhome's stuck in the mud, HELP!"  I
think, "ok, just slap some boards under the drive wheels (it has a tag axle)
and go."  Umm, no.  Ok, try a lever, gravel, and the boards.  Umm, no.  OK,
try all the above, and a certain 1987.5 Audi 5000s quattro.  First try; diffs
locked (big oops, lotsa clutch smoke, hopefully everythings ok!).  Who would
have thought that the tires wouldn't have spun in the grass at 6000rpm!
Second try:  Diffs open, pulls it right out!  YEEHAW!!!!!!!!  More about the
motorhome:  1981 Alumalite (oxymoron!!) Holiday Rambler Ramblette 28' C-class.
Weight:  approx. 6 tons +.  The 5ksq had lotsa mud under it.  Now it sits in
the garage airing out.  Must say I'm proud of it:)
