That is not a microphone. If it's a slotted hole in the sunroof control
area (that panel in the middle), it's a temperature sensor for the
climate control.

My 1995 A6QW has the hands-free phone option (but it might have been
aftermarket???), and the microphone is a small black box above the
driver's door.
