Hi Guys,

The alarm system (Alpine 8040) on my ur-q no longer works.  I found a short
on the line from the trunk light switch (-ve side) that completely burnt the
diode (I'm guessing here since I can no longer see the component).  This
line spliced onto the main unit line for the door opening detection.  Can
anyone tell me if it was in fact a diode (I tried to splice the line
directly to the main line but it keeps on blowing the fuse) it could have
been a resistor.  If it was a resistor what resistance?  If anyone has one
of these installed and could help me out, I would be much appreciated.
